Coronavirus Update
The Coronavirus seems to be on everyone’s mind. This is a new virus and consequently, there are many differing opinions on how easily the virus can be transmitted and how dangerous it is. Until doctors and scientists have more information, we feel it is best to err on the side of caution.
At New Forum, we have an ongoing commitment to provide clean, safe, and welcoming environments, for our Guests, Team Members and business partners. As such, we have adopted even more stringent cleaning protocols and are following best practices recommended by the CDC and local public health officials to combat the transmission of communicable diseases.
Our restaurants have instituted a professional daily full-venue clean with antibacterial products. In addition, our staff is sanitizing touchpoints like menus, door handles, tables, chairs, and restrooms throughout the day.
At our senior and multi-family communities, we are screening all visitors for infection risk and refusing admittance to those displaying a higher risk profile. We have recommended that all residents limit outside visitors to only those deemed essential. As with our restaurants, antibacterial cleaning of all common area touchpoints occurs routinely throughout the day.
We have instituted new employee policies for all our business lines and have instructed anyone who is not feeling well to stay home. We have also instructed all New Forum employees to observe the following CDC-recommended practices, which we suggest as smart practices for anyone:
Review information provided by the CDC; the World Health Organization (“WHO”); the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services; and the U.S. Department of State (the “State Department”) daily for up-to-date and reliable information. Any response to COVID-19 should be informed by accurate sources in light of the sensationalism surrounding the virus.
Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds and/or use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer containing at least 60% alcohol
Routinely clean all frequently touched surfaces such as countertops, fixtures and doorknobs with disinfectant cleaners. The current belief is that the Coronavirus can last on surfaces for a minimum of several days
Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands
Avoid close contact with people who are sick
Avoid hand shaking, hugging and touching others. Maintain a minimum distance of 3 feet from others whenever possible.
If you are sick or have come in contact with someone who has traveled to an area with a high risk of COVID-19 exposure or has a confirmed case of COVID-19, stay home until you are certain you have not contracted the virus.
Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue when you cough or sneeze. Throw that tissue away. Do not reuse it. If you don’t have a tissue, cough or sneeze into your upper sleeve, not your hands. Wash your hands with soap and water after coughing or sneezing. Use hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol if you cannot wash your hands.
As the situation evolves, we may implement additional preventative measures to ensure resident, guest and Team Member well-being, including staffing or service modifications. We will keep our communication open on our website and social media outlets.
Thank you in advance for your patience as we navigate this situation and determine how best to continue serving our community. In these uncertain times, and always, your health and safety are our priority.
